The Texas Women’s Healthcare Coalition (TWHC) is committed to promoting and increasing funding for women’s preventive healthcare to fully meet the growing need among low-income uninsured women. Included in this is advocating for the expansion of Medicaid coverage to 12 months postpartum.
Tomorrow Wednesday April 14th, HB 133 will be voted on in the House! HB 133 will allow moms to have 12 months of Medicaid coverage postpartum. This is in line with the number one recommendation from the Maternal Mortality and Morbidity Review Committee that women should have access to healthcare before, during, and after pregnancy. Last week, House Speaker Phelan backed a bipartisan package of health priorities that includes HB 133.
