Headquartered in Washington, D.C., Voto Latino is a grassroots political organization that focuses on “educating and empowering a new generation of Latinx voters, as well as creating a more robust and inclusive democracy. Through innovative digital campaigns, culturally relevant programs and authentic voices, we shepherd the Latinx community towards the full realization of its political power.”
According to the group’s website, to date (2020), Voto Latino has registered 250,000 new voters, with a goal of half a million voters registered in time to vote on Election Day in November.
In May of 2020, Voto Latino joined the Texas State Conference of the NAACP, the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans and other groups in a lawsuit against the Texas Secretary of State to reduce restrictions on mail-in voting, which the organizations believes will inhibit voter turnout given the conditions of the coronavirus pandemic.
