To our Texas Women’s Foundation Family and Friends:
Ten years ago, I was granted an extraordinary privilege to lead what was then Dallas Women’s Foundation. And yesterday, I announced to our Board that this year is the right time for me to retire as CEO of Texas Women’s Foundation.
I am ever grateful for the honor of working for and with the finest and most dedicated Board, staff, volunteers, donors, program partners and grantees, all committed to the same values and goals: to advance gender and racial equity, and to ensure equal opportunities for all Texas women and girls. We are known for living our values as an organization, evidenced by the diversity of our Board, our staff, our donors and partners, and by our culture of inclusivity.
Our work for the past decade has built broad, diverse and inclusive networks. Our research has created a shared understanding and common language for the importance of women’s economic security to all Texans, at the same time it created a statewide community that embraced our transformation into Texas Women’s Foundation. Our advocacy has helped change policies affecting child care, health care, education and housing in our communities and across the state, and today, we can mobilize a dedicated Army of Advocates more than 2,000 people strong, representing every region of the state. Our programs in women’s leadership – focused on young women of color and on the talent pipeline of women leaders in every sector – have elevated, celebrated and supported women leaders from the grassroots to the C-suite and halls of state. Our grantmaking has furthered innovative initiatives in child care, health care and housing stability impacting thousands of women and families, while also continuing to fund the gaps in community-based services for women and girls. Our grantmaking grew by more than 180% and our assets by more than 47%, and we became the first women’s foundation to invest 100% of our assets in a 100% mission-aligned gendered portfolio to deliver strong financial returns and social benefits to women and girls. And during this terrible past year, we mounted a swift, comprehensive and ongoing response to the impact of the pandemic, the economic crisis and racial injustices on low income women and families.
The impact of our mission and work is significant, because of the strength of our staff, the dedication and deep engagement of our Board and volunteers, the excellence of our program partners, and the phenomenal generosity and commitment of our donors. These are the strengths that sustain Texas Women’s Foundation – and they will carry us forward into the future, where our mission, our work and our impact are needed more than ever, to build equitable communities where all women and girls can reach their full potential and all Texans will benefit.

***Please Note: The Board has convened a CEO Search Committee, which will interview and retain one of the nation’s top recruiting firms to assist in the search. More information regarding this process will be communicated on a regular basis.
It will be business as usual at Texas Women’s Foundation. Roslyn will remain in her role as President & CEO until her successor is named, and will assist in the transition.
