Apparently believing you can’t have too much of a good thing, the Texas Women’s Foundation has decided to stretch this year’s Leadership Forum and Awards Celebration into a day-long affair.

In addition to its traditional reception and awards dinner on Thursday evening, April 27, at the Omni Dallas Hotel, the foundation will host an “empowerment program” for girls ages 13 to 16 called #BESTSELF beginning earlier that morning. It will be followed by a pair of moderated, 45-minute Leadership Forums, where the seven recipients of TXWF’s 2023 Maura Women Helping Women and Young Leader awards will discuss their journeys.

The evening dinner itself will feature the award recipients participating in two more panel discussions, with “Today” show co-host Jenna Bush Hager serving as moderator.

Recipients of the 2023 Maura Women Helping Women Award, selected by a committee headed by Brenda Jackson and Hilda Galvan, are: Froswa Booker-Drew of Dallas, Madeline Burillo-Hopkins of Houston, Austin’s Aimee CunninghamMary Pat Higgins of Dallas and Jill Louis, also of Dallas. The Young Leader Award recipients are Ann Chao Sheu of Dallas and Katy’s Bee Nance.

“I look forward to emceeing this event honoring women who have elevated women and girls and created opportunities for advancement and leadership,” said Bush Hager, the daughter of former First Couple Laura and George W. Bush. “I am fortunate to have learned from my grandmothers, Barbara Bush and Jenna Welch, and my mother, Laura, who showed me how to be an impactful woman who lifts up others to achieve their potential.”

TXWF President/CEO Miki Woodard said Bush Hager’s Texas roots, entrepreneurial spirit and journalism career will  help make the event a “must attend” this spring. She added, “Our event now includes middle and high school students as we strive to celebrate and encourage Texas women leaders across generations.”

Sponsorships for the revamped event start at $1,000. To learn more, visit https://txwfleadership.org/
