Where: Hilton Anatole
The 411: The always inspiring Roslyn Dawson Thompson, Dallas Women’s Foundation president and CEO, welcomed nearly 1,500 attendees to a “She Who Dares” luncheon that supports the advancement of women’s economic security and leadership in North Texas. The uplifting luncheon featured female speakers recounting their experiences in STEM and the reveal of 33 trading cards of remarkable women leaders.
The highlight of the afternoon was keynote speaker Dr. Hope Jahren — award-winning scientist, best-selling author, and one of Time magazine’s “Top 100 Most Influential People in the World” — who gave an interesting presentation about how plants are similar to humans. The speech was live-streamed to more than 10,000 students at over 20 schools throughout Texas, thanks to sponsor Lyda Hill.
The Dallas Women’s Foundation is the largest regional women’s fund in the world and unlocks resources to advance women’s economic security and women’s leadership through research, grantmaking, and advocacy. This year’s luncheon alone raised an incredible $1.2 million, and since 1985, the Foundation has granted more than $37.6 million to help create opportunities for women and girls.
